The Pastel Interview

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with emerging artist Pastel. Although he’s new to creating and releasing music, Pastel has been a lifelong creative, bringing all his past experiences into his artistic vision—evident in the visuals of his music video for “Al Capone.”

We began by diving into his background, as I’ve known him since before he ever stepped into the music scene. Afterward, we talked about one of my favorite tracks of his, “Bossa.” This bossa nova-inspired rap track draws listeners in with its unique elements, like the soft bird calls at the start and the smooth, serendipitous chords from producer Fred Iries.

I also hit him with some deeper questions—about his team (if he has one), his vision for the future, and his personal musical influences.

Finally, we discussed his latest release, “ADHD.” In this track, he taps into a powerful theme in the creative process: embracing the quirks, ideas, and intricacies that make him unique, turning them into his superpower.

Recording this was a blast, and I hope this conversation brings you some creative inspiration. Peace!
